This is quite sad. I received a video from Joy Daily and was quite sad when I watched. In a world where people act like they are color blind...it's still a problem in 2009. ESPECIALLY in the entertainment industry..
They actually have moved from light skin girls to exotic ones. But that is a different story.
According to Joy...Light skin women have always been casted in lead roles and are put on pedestals. Dark skin women are overlooked and usually casted as the stereotypical, over sexed, booty shakers. In the video below..Complexion Obsession finds out why in this controversial look at Hip Hop industry's top video vixens including Melyssa Ford, Bria Myles, Vanessa Veasley, Suelyn, and Dollicia Bryant. They give a take on why the industry is obsessed with light complexions.

Well we been knew this...but it's definitely good to get the video chicks opinions...although I think the reasoning is straight bullshit. If they want to look at it that way, So should the hip hop and r&b world sign more nonblack male talent? I mean since they're trying to capture a diverse crowd? I mean it's stupid because as long as the music is saying something, who really cares about the video enough to make sure they dont cast a dark-skinned black chick? I mean the guys are black, so why would anyone be offended or not interested to see a black woman as their love interest or whatever? They can gone somewhere with that...I wont buy their shit. And I encourage most black women to take a stand and not to do so. Everytime that Birthday sex song comes on the radio, I turn the station. I'll go back to old school music before I support black men that are straight up pussies when it comes to casting a black woman. Black women back in the day have fought and fought for black men and its a shame these weak ass men today wont do the same. And even some of these artists, their black mothers were there all the way up to the point where they got signed...Disgraceful
I find it interesting that the two latin girls had pretty much the same way of thinking smh. It goes waaay waaay back and its soo much deeper than just videos. For some reason people think lighter girls=better. Its to the point where I dont even watch videos anymore. They may throw one chocolate girl in there just to say "see look we're giving you a darkskinned girl". Its sad
F the WORLD that's why the end is coming too many things have gone downhill so much so that GOD has to come and start it over to better the earth since the ppl have seemed to have gotten to a point of no return they do as they please not just in the music industry but politics as well just too much to change and no one wants to take a stand and pass the word to save another so why start now decades too too late I feel for our current world :(
didn't watch the video, cause simply the reasoning is more than likely bullcrap... its used to be light but obviously black girls, now its the exotic type, and even white... as soulja boy said last night its all bull... I mean you want to cater to a diverse crowd, how about catering to the mf's that believed in your broke tails before the diverse crowd even knew who you were... and from my experiences other races and nationalities actually prefer darker sisters... my question is what do they think about their black mama's & sisters???
Women in most of the music videos today are objectified, fetishized, and for the most part allow themselves to be degraded. Rather than being the object of affection, they're pretty much just objects/props, just like cars, jewelry and cash. Dark skinned women shouldn't be offended that they're often not chosen to be apart of it because most of it is garbage. Women of all shades, races, and ethinicities need to boycott these videos if the lyrical content is misogynistic, or if they're asked to be in a hypersexualized role. Forget the money (how much do these girls typically get paid anyway??). No one should be money's mistress and whore themselves out for cash. Not when your value is compromised and you're shaking your ass to lyrics that insinuate that all most women are good for is head, pussy, and pole dancing. Whatever happened to love, respect, marriage, being cherished, etc. Whatever.
who cares rather a video has a dark skin, light skin, exotic....these bitches are making the same amount a substitute teacher makes.......artist barely can negoitate their own contract, yet alone worry about or have say so in casting for a video..THEY ARE SO MANY MORE IMPORTANT THINGS GOING ON IN THE WORLD THEN THE COMPLEXION OF THE GIRL IN SOULJA BOYS VIDEO.....WE HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT NOW,THAT TRUMPS EVERYTHING IMO.
They want anything that's not black! L0l! This is ridiculous! 99% of the time, those chicks wouldn't give these fools a 2nd look if they didn't have the "fame and fortune"!
So wait... When we talk about light skinned women in music videos its a problem but when Disney gave that lil black princess a middle eatern looking prince it was OK... We come in all shades and colors many on this very site typed! Now when a dude who is thought to have money and influence puts some middle eastern "looking" chicks in their video its a different story??? Get on the same page with all aspects of your life... The problem starts with us, not with what we see... Beauty is Beauty... But keep in mind that is VERY objective

Now the book is not yet released, but I got a message my my email today saying that somebody has bought a copy (...
It's so terrible...it happens all over the world. There are markets for it everywhere..I'm glad it's being brought to light but soo sad for that poor baby. Unfortunately she is only one of many.
