Everyone Drake Calls Out In ‘Summer Sixteen’

By now you’ve probably had Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” track on repeat. With about 24 hours to digest the lyrics, we’ve come up with a list of everyone Drake calls out in the ‘Views From the 6’ teaser. So far only Meek Mill has responded. Will anyone else rise to the challenge? Could this be considered Drake’s version of Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse? Read the lyrics and be the judge.

1.  “Looking For Revenge /To do what you couldn’t do /Tell Obama that my verses are just like the whips that he in /They bulletproof”

Barack Obama was asked who he felt would win in a battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. POTUS went with K. Dot. This isn’t really a diss, more like a mention. Kendrick has taken a few shots at Drake in the past and hasn’t received a direct answer. Will Drizzy return the shots soon?

2. “I’m just a sicko a real sicko when you get to know me nigga/ I let the diss record drop, you was staying right below me, nigga/ We must have played it a hundred times, you was going to bed/Why would I put on a vest I expect you to aim for the head?/I coulda killed you the first time/ You don’t have to try to say it louder nigga/ Trust, we heard you the first time”

– Obvious shot at Meek Mill, who actually responded the same day with “War Pain.” Both Drake and Meek admit to being in the same hotel (Four Season) at the same time in their songs. I wonder what really transpired that night.

3. “All you boys in the new Toronto want to be me a little”

“Oh it’s your time now” yeah, that’s what everybody say

– word is, this is a diss to Toronto’s newest rising star, Tory Lanez. Back in 2014 Tory referred to himself as the realest out of Toronto, and last year may have subliminally dissed Drake when he said that he doesn’t think referring to TDot as “The 6” is cool.

4. “All your ex’s know I like my O’s with a V in the middle /You would love it if I went away or didn’t say nothing else /How am I keeping it real by keeping this shit to myself? /You was never gang, gang, gang, gang, you was never one of us/Had us fooled for a minute there, now we done all grown up”

– word is this was a shot at The Weeknd. You may recall, early in The Weeknd’s career Drake took a liking to his music, enlisting him as part of his crew — thus OVOXO was born. When The Weeknd felt that he was giving away too much of his music and not releasing any of his own, he decided to branch out and sign a major label deal, which at first didn’t sit well with Drizzy. The ‘Your X’s Know I Like My O’s With A V in the middle’ line seems like a direct hit to OVOXO (Peep the X in between the O and the V between the O). The Weeknd recently did an interview with Rolling Stone, which probably could have rekindled old feelings.

5. “I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella then I turned into Jay / Now I got a house in L.A., now I got a bigger pool than ‘Ye / And look, man, ‘Ye’s pool is nice, mine’s just bigger is what I’m sayin’”

– Not a diss, but Kanye West is definitely not going to take kindly to anyone having a bigger pool than him. I’m sure he’s extending that pool into his neighbor’s backyard RIGHT now!
