For Women Who Want The Ballerific Life!
Every so often a film comes around that is life altering for some people. This movie is based on Ntozake Shange's book "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf" I remember we had to read this book in high school. Although I can't remember most of it I remember it being some deep stuff. This book was also made into a Broadway play that won the Obie and Tony Award. Forward to 2010, Tyler Perry, the first black man to have his own movie studio is bringing this story to the big screen. After his Oprah appearance talking about his own struggle with life I have faith that this story told through him with have the same emotion as the book and play.
FOR COLORED GIRLS weaves together the stories of nine different women – Joanna, Tangie, Crystal, Gilda, Kelly, Juanita, Yasmine, Nyla and Alice – as they move into and out of one another’s existences; some are well known to one another, others are as yet strangers. Crises, heartbreaks and crimes will ultimately bring these nine women fully into the same orbit where they will find commonality and understanding. Each will speak her truth as never before. And each will know that she is complete as a human being, glorious and divine in all her colors.
