Sitting in the hospital waiting room brought back memories, most of which Jack would not have liked to remember. He looked to Troy to see how he was doing given that his father was in the other room passed out. The young man looked shaken and tired but other wise ok from what he could tell. This is obviously not how he planned to spend his Friday night with his Dad.
“Troy have you eaten?” Jack asked. He figured that with all the excitement and worry that Troy might not have eaten anything.
“No. I didn’t get a chance to.”
“Oh Tory you need something to eat. I think there is a cafeteria here somewhere.” Kay said concerned.
“I know where it is. I’ve been here before. Come one Troy I’ll take you there. Kay do you want something?” Jack asked turning to her.
“If you can find some better coffee I’ll be glad to have that.”
“Alright then,” he stood up.
“Ma you not coming?” Tory asked.
“No I’ll stay here and let you two boys go chase some nurses.” She joked.
“Nurse chasing? It’s too early for that. It’s the perfect time to chase the new female interns.” Jack said.
“And how would you know that?” Kay asked him.
“Like I said. I have been here before. Come on Troy.” Jack said and walked off with Troy snickering behind him. They walked a little ways to the other side of the hospital where the cafeteria was.
“Sorry Jack.”
“Sorry? What are you sorry about?” Jack asked.
“I didn’t mean to ruin your evening with my mother but I just couldn’t handle all this by myself.”
“Don’t worry about it. You don’t have to apologize to me. You did the right thing and I don’t mind. When you called I thought something had happened to you. You had me concerned. When you mother explained what had happened then I was relieved that you were not hurt but I am sorry about your father. I came here to support the two of you.”
“Thanks Jack.”
“It’s nothing. So what would you like to eat?”
“I think I’ll just have soup.”
“Good choice this hospital has pretty good soup.”
“Uh Jack why do you know so much about this hospital?”
“Like I said I have been here a few times so I know a little about it. Your mother said get her some coffee so let me get that for her.” Jack said as he went to get some coffee. By the time Troy got his soup Jack was waiting for him at the cashier. “Put your money away. I got this.” Jack said and paid for everything.
“Thanks Jack…Ma said you were generous. You know you didn’t have to pay.”
“I don’t mind besides a young man like you better save that money for your girl.” Jack commented.
“Ha I don’t have a girl. I thought I focus on school first.”
“Good choice besides it’ll leave you room to have some ‘fun’. I’m sure you having plenty of that.”
“MMM yeah here and there.”
Jack smiled “I hope you’re taking full advantage of it unless you’re looking to get serious with someone.”
“No not now I just wanna live and have some fun.”
“I hear that. If I was you I take full advantage but speaking of taking advantage where are those interns?”
“You were serious?” Troy asked in disbelief.
“Well I am a man but nothing wrong with looking however it was more for you then me. We got a long night in front of us. Wanted to see if you had any game but alas let us get your mother her coffee but she gets on the intercom and pages us.”
“Jack you’re crazy.”
“I know. Oh look at that one over there bet you couldn’t get her number.”
“Bet? Naw watch…”
“Where are they?” Kay said out loud. She had been waiting from Jack and Troy to return. She didn’t think it would take this long. “Oh there you are….what were you to doing? Did you get lost?”
“No we didn’t get lost but your son…haha here…I don’t know if I should tell you.” Jack chuckled.
“What?” Kay asked confused.
“It’s not that funny.”
“Oh yes it is. Your son a few minutes ago was trying quite desperately to get the number of doctor here who happens to be a lesbian.” Jack laughed.
“I only did it cause you bet I couldn’t. I thought I had a chance.”
“Troy, Troy did you think I pick out an easy target for you? Well at least by the time we get out of here you’ll be very famous because I’m sure Stephanie has told a few nurses by now.”
“That is why you two took so long? Where is my coffee?” Kay asked.
“Oh right here.” Jack said handing her coffee.
“Wait a minute Jack how did you know her name?” Troy asked.
“Stephanie is a friend of mine and so is her partner.”
“Jack …man you tricked me!”
“Yeah I did I figured I help you have some fun since we’re here. Don’t worry as soon as the shift changes I’ll show you some non-lesbian women.”
“Jack!” Kay yelled.
“What? Don’t you want him to be well versed in women?”
“HAHA Jack that’s a good one. I think I’m keep that one.” Troy laughed.
“I got a few more.”
“Hello Ishmael.” Jack said smoothly.
“Emir… Jack thank you for meeting me on such short notice.”
“No problem. Now what would you like to discuss?” Jack asked.
“Almira…she…I can no longer tolerate her behavior. She is not even trying to get my forgiveness. It’s like she expects it. She has no shame in the things she has done. I want to end this. You know she had te4 nerve to go shopping when she should have been making it up to me?”
“Sounds like her so you really are going to divorce her? I guess she isn’t going to have a baby for you.”
“No she isn’t but then again I kinda knew in my heart that she wouldn’t. I hate to admit that I wasted alittle more than 15 year. I wasted so much time of my life with her. Now what do I have to show?”
“You’re rich and you have two step kids that love you. I say you haven’t completely wasted your time but I do understand that you want a child of your own. Look Ishmael, divorcing Almira is not going to be easy. She doesn’t want you to divorce so she is going to make things difficult but you must do what is best for you.” Jack told him.
“Hmmm but the boys…I don’t want them to be tossed around.”
“We’ll work something out. You’re just as much apart of their lives as I am. I wouldn’t let her take them from you.”
“Thank you Jack. Jack…how did you meet women after you divorced her?” Ishmael asked the burning question in his mind. Ishmael was 19 when he fell in love and married Almira. Almira wasn’t his first but he didn’t have the chance that Jack gained afterward in being with many different women. After he went through the divorce with Almira he would have to start all over again.
“Oh well…I knew some women that like me while I was still married. When I got divorced I decided to take them out to celebrate and after I went to a few clubs. In general I just searched around enjoying my freedom when I wasn’t working of caring for the kids. If you keep yourself open then women will come but when you’re starting out I suggest you get your rocks off first. I guessing you haven’t being having sex with her so I think that getting laid is a must.”Jack said.
“It’s been a while since I have ‘laid’ with her. I don’t intend on sleeping with her again. I am going to move out when I give her the divorce papers.”
“Well be sure to duck when you give them to her…trust me on that.”

Jack is a man of 'peace' & I like that. He understands everyone's needs and caters to them.
He's supporting Kay & Troy, distracting Troy with the 'nurse' trick LOL.
He's on solid ground with Ishmael.
Good piece,.....FYI @ LB, you don't need to explain at the end of your stories, just post them. It's nice to see how the 2 of you work off of each other.
