Major League Baseball has announced that Tampa Bay Rays Minor League pitcher Taylor Gurrieri has been suspended for 50 games starting the 2014 baseball season. This is the second time that Gurrieri has tested positive for drug abuse under the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. This makes Gurrieri the third first round draft pick to be suspended by the MLB in the past 18 months. It seems that even in the Minor League that MLB is trying to gain control over the drug and substance abuse problem that clouds the image of the sport.
