Morris Twins Want A New Grand Jury

NBA forwards Marcus and Markieff Morris are seeking a new grand jury in the felony assault case where they are accused of beating a man they caught sexting their mom. Lawyers for the Morris twins filed a motion asking the judge to send their case back to the grand jury because they feel prosecutors presented “false and misleading evidence”  leading to the brothers’ indictment. As far as what that “false and misleading evidence,” they do not say.

Marcus and Markieff Morris were charged with felony aggravated assault back in April for their role in the January assault of 36 year old Erik Hood. Gerald Bowman, who was a safety for USC and preparing for the NFL draft, along with Julius Kane and Christopher Melendez were also charged with felony assault for their role in the incident.  The twins, who plead not guilty, were not present in court Monday for their pretrial conference. They are due back in court on September 16th. The state has until Aug. 21st to respond to the motion.
