For Women Who Want The Ballerific Life!
Mutiny is defined as rebellion against legal authority. The legal authority is Grambling State University and the university's football team is very upset. Some reports state that the football team is still upset about the firing of Coach Doug Williams last month. Some reports state that the football team is upset about having to travel by bus to Indiana and Kansas City for football games. All reports are right! The football team has voiced their concerns amongst each other, their coaches and the university about these issues but no one was listening.
The football players reported to weight training and a player voiced his frustration to everyone present. The newly hired Coach Ragsdale kicked this player off of the team and the team stated that if he goes they will all go. Coach Ragsdale told the players to "Get the f--k out then!" These student-athletes wanted to be heard and this coach's ego got in the way. The football team met with Dr. Frank Pogue, the university's president, and the administration along with the coaches. The legal authority basically put the blame on the football players. The football team used a higher form of civil disobedience by walking out. Coach Ragsdale was fired and now the football team has another INTERIM head football coach.
This team has consistently complained about various issues and their former Coach Doug Williams was soliciting donations and sponsors to help improve the football facilities. Dr. Pogue wanted those donations to go through the university's foundation and eventually fired Williams for "insubordination". Now if you add all of this up with the $325,000 the team was paid to play in the Circle City Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana along with the $250,000 the team was paid to play in Kansas City, Missouri then you can understand the football team's frustration. The university chose to bus the football team to try to keep all of the money from these games to help cover the university deficit. These games alone would have helped cover the debt but the university chose to treat these players wrong and unfair by bussing them for hours to and from football games.
The football team needs support. If the university was using this money to help pay off the university's debt then they should remember that the football program is important. The football program is an important source of financial income for the university. This unrest is caused by the school administration and not the student-athletes. This needs to be resolved as soon as possible with solutions that benefit both the football team and the university.
