NFL Drama: The Trade of Running Back Trent Richardson

When Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay went on twitter a few days ago to say that “This day of Monster trade, The tidal wave of deal making,” he was not lying to the Colts fans and NFL fans that were watching his twitter account. This is week three of the NFL regular season and The Cleveland Browns traded RB Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2014 first round draft pick. While this deal was being made and was eventually announced, Richardson found out about the trade after receiving a call from a friend and then he turned on the radio to hear more about it.

Trent Richardson was the first round draft pick for the Cleveland Browns last year. Later on that day NFL fans found out that Willis McGahee was in Cleveland doing a physical so that the Browns could sign him the same day the trade was made. Richardson’s reaction to the trade, “I can’t believe it. I didn’t see it coming anywhere. I guess it was the best move for the Browns,” he said. “I wanted to be a Brown, I didn’t see it coming but at the same time I’m a Colt now and have to get ready for Sunday’s game.” This is business. Professional athletes have to prepare themselves for situations like this. What did you think of the trade?
