Nike Releases New "Gold Digging" T-Shirt & Stirs Up Controversy
Nike dropped a new women's t-shirt dawning the slogan "Gold Digging" on the front. The shirt was created to support the women of Team USA who brought home 46 gold medals, more medals than their male counterparts. Some are saying because the shirt is made for women that the term "Gold Digging" is sexist. Frankly I don't see the big deal and I'll be copping this tee because it's a pretty awesome play on words. Unfortunately, others may not see it my way.
We aren’t saying they’re gold diggers – we’re just saying they’re out for the gold! What’s wrong with that?
The term "Gold Digging" clearly has a different connotation. We here at Baller Alert know that. We talk about it and battle it every day. Obviously that's not the way Nike meant it but some people believe that Nike is trying to say that only women can be Gold Diggers, since the shirt only comes in Women's sizes. I say, it only comes in Women's sizes because we dominated. Go and get your Gold Digging on!
Do you think Nike was subliminally being sexist or is this all being blown out of proportion?

I don't think they meant any harm, I think its cute! Alot of undercover gold diggers can wear it proudly. It's catchy too, maybe they should've incorporated some red, white and blue in the shirt to make it a little more obvious.. :)

I think the male gold diggers are just mad that they can't sport a gold digging shirt of their own because they would be outing their closeted boyfriends. Haters gonna hate! I love it and the play on the words. iWANT!

why did they put a black girl in the ad though...should've been a spanish girl? hehe...they're better gold diggin' groupies than the black girls. i kid, i kid!!!
now, if they would've put a dark skinned woman in the add (like the track stars, gabby and such) then it would've been a little more "believable". i'm buying it either way!!!
