No Criminal Charges To Be Filed Against Jameis Winston

We all patiently awaited what was to become of the sexual battery accusations against FSU quarterback and today a decision was made in the case. After further review of the evidence, no criminal charges will be filed.

“We have carefully examined the evidence in this case and have concluded no charges will be filed in this case,” State Attorney William Meggs said today. “We prosecute the cases that we have evidence on.”

Winston, a Heisman hopeful, had been under investigation since November 13 for an incident that took place in December 2012. The case took nearly 11 months to reach State Attorney William Meggs’ desk, only after media started covering the story, suggesting that there was a suspected cover-up.

The victim’s attorney released a statement on behalf of the victim and her family, “The victim and her family appreciate the State Attorney’s efforts in attempting to conduct a proper investigation after an inordinate delay by the Tallahassee Police Department.”The victim in this case had the courage to immediately report her rape to the police and she relied upon them to seek justice. The victim has grave concerns that her experience, as it unfolded in the public eye and through social media, will discourage other victims of rape from coming forward and reporting.”

How do you think this will effect Winston’s future football career?
