On October 5, 2011 Apple Inc co-founder, Steve Jobs, passed away from complications from pancreatic cancer. It was also that same year where his wife Laurene Powell met a good friend Adrien Fenty at an education conference in Houston. Who knew that just a few short years later their budding friendship would turn into romance and the two would begin dating.
42 year old Fenty was elected Mayor of Washington DC in 2006 and served until 2010. According to Gumbumper, After he left office, Fenty began consulting with educational tech companies and teaching at Oberlin College. In 2012, he joined the board of non-profit college prep organization College Track, a program co-founded by Jobs. Fenty’s image isn’t all squeaky clean, however. Scandal struck Fenty during his term as DC mayor when it was rumored that he abused his then-wife on several occasions. She never came out and admitted it (to my knowledge) and an investigation wasn’t done. Fenty says it isn’t true. 49 year old Laurene Powell inherited roughly $10 billion after the death of Steve Jobs and has been laying low, taking care of the couple’s son and two daughters ever since.
I don’t know how someone can follow behind Steve Jobs but dating a MULTI-BILLIONAIRE? I’d have to say Mr. Fenty is winning.
