T-Boz Responds To Kickstarter Controversy

T-Boz and Chilli of TLC have come under fire after fans donated thousands of dollars to fund their album and a year later, there’s no album in sight. One fan in particular addressed the lack of new music with T-Boz via Twitter to which the TLC front woman simply shrugged it off and told the fan to take it up with Kickstarter.

After countless memes and trending topics, T-Boz sat down with “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” to publicly address the situation.  “This is the thing, if people would do their research..” she started. “Everybody who donated, we’ve sent emails weekly. On top of that, we did a press release. The problem with people…I refuse to address ignorance because there’s a lot of followers out there and they just hear one comment and they just jump on the bandwagon and don’t do their research.”

T-Boz did not go into detail about what the weekly emails consist of, but she did say that she’s highly disappointed in those who call themselves “fans.”

“At the end of the day that’s what I find really disappointing. Especially with our people. It’s mostly our people doing it and you don’t ever see other races on the internet dogging other people out the way black people do each other. It’s embarrassing and it’s unfortunate to me. That, more so than you trying to assassinate my character.”

The TLC kickstarter received $430,255. The most recent update to the page came in September. It reads:

Hey TLC fans!

After seeing and greeting so many of you on our tour this summer, we took a short break and now we are in the studio recording our new album with Ron Fair, coming out in 2016. The music is coming out great and it’s only with your support of TLC on Kickstarter that this is possible. We thank you and promise that we will continue rolling out all the Kickstarter prizes expect the album by mid-October. We are moving the album back to 2016, so that we will have more time to finish the record the TLC way. Thanks as always for your love and support and we can’t wait to deliver a new record and tour next year.

Mid-October has obviously come and gone. Did you pledge? If so, did you receive and update?
