Why The #FCKH8 Campaign Will Get Lost In Translation (VIDEO)

Have you seen the video of adorable young girls dressed as princesses dropping the F-Bomb while spitting political facts? If not, welcome to the #FCKH8 campaign (video below).

I probably watched the video three times because it was utterly genius. Reading comments however, I saw how the message was quickly lost. Here you have 8-10 year old little princesses using profanity to get a point across. One could say they are children and shouldn’t be using that language. That aside, take the power out of the word and it’s just a word. They’re actors. They’re reading a script. Let their parents punish them if they happen to use the word outside of that. Heck, I can name SEVERAL films where pre-teen kids were using profanity. Many of them might have been Spike Lee movies, to be honest. But understand the POINT of the campaign — it shouldn’t be the profanity that offends you but the gross facts.

These young girls touch on everything from inequality of females in the work place to rape..and though they may not know much about what they’re saying now, they will definitely remember it when they get older. Truth be told, we’re old enough to understand it now and can WE even process the real talk these little girls are telling us?

Forget what you think may happen to these girls in the future by saying “fuck” at 8 years old. Think about what these girls will have to deal with when they grow up to realize that no matter how hard they work, they’ll never get paid their worth. How about the scary fact that 1 out of every 5 women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime and SHE will be the one to blame because of what she wore, how much she drank or where she just happened to be. How about the extreme body issues she’s going to have when she realizes her boobs and butt aren’t big enough…or that her hair is the texture of Blue Ivy. None of that offends you? Just the fact they said FUCK?

Listen, I love this video. They totally got it & congratulations to the parents of these girls for seeing the bigger picture. Unfortunately, because of the number of F-bombs dropped by these adorable faces, people will focus more on the wrong things. Funny, because all of these facts have existed for a long time and people have yet to pay attention.
