Michael Vick released from home confinement Today

I never thought I'd live to see the day when the Humane Society would become so powerful in our society. It must have to do with the fact that we don't know who is in it. They have been known to throw blood on fur coats and perhaps even worse, who knows. Who knows who they are? Well, anyway we know who Michael Vick is and we have a pretty good idea what he's about. I don't know this for sure, but it's been my theory in this case, that Vick got involved in dog-fighting while playing football at Virginia Tech where he was a standout quarterback. We have this peculiar situation with our college athletes, they may raise boo koo, that's Vietnamese for many, bucks for dear alma mater. But they cannot earn any money for self. So it is my suspicion that Vick was introduced to dog-fighting by his so-called friends and so-called relatives. Being the great athlete and quarterback that he was and could possibly become again, after this two year forced separation from pro-football by the jail conviction and sentence which he has just completed, for dog-fighting. The question becomes, how soon if ever will he get a chance to make a living in the way that he and society are sure is the best way for him to compete, that would be playing football again at the level to which his talent has made him accustomed to. I believe that the one thing Vick is guilty of, it could happen to any of us, given the talent that he has nurtured to greatness, is being to trusting. He set up the house in Virgina for dog fighting and moved to Atlanta, where he was granted a huge contract for playing quarterback for the Falcons. It is my thought that, at this point his involvement with dog-fighting was over. That the only reason he probably was involved in the first place, because while he and his teammates were making big bucks for the university, they made none for themselves. True they received tuition and room and board, but the dog fighting probably brought in more. Upon leaving school after graduation his involvement with dog-fighting had ended. But being the trusting person that he evidently is, he left his people in charge. His name and money kept the place going, but when did he have time in Atlanta to come back to dog-fight? He had to learn the Falcon play book and lead by example all the while competing for the starting quarterback job, which he won, no thanks to his dog-fighting background. He's got a huge contract from Nike, and his salary from the Falcons, and he no longer is involved in the sport back at school. But his nephew gets stopped by the local police and everything unfurls from there onto Vick's shoulders. They cut a deal and Vick had to live up to the terms of the agreement, on terms he didn't make. Now the NFL is sounding like they are going to send Vick through additional changes. This reminds of what happened to Cassius Clay, a.k.a. Mohammad Ali, who also had to sit out of the ring, for refusing to be drafter into the Army. I don't know if Vick has made any statement of this caliber, but Ali, who had become a Black Muslim, said something to the effect that no Vietcong, ever called him Nigger and so he didn't intend to go over to Vietnam and fight or for that matter enter the Army. This was different than the way Joe Louis did it back in the 50s, when he was drafted. All he did was toured various bases and he made appearances as the champ and he demonstrated to all who chose to try, that he really was the heavyweight champ of the boxing world. So now Vick has paid his time for his crime, and it would be good if the NFL accepted the fact that the dog-fighting occurred when he was in college and needed some money, because as I said before athletes to this day still don't get paid in proportion to the money they make for the universities they generate huge sums for. It would be closer to the facts if they judged him on what he did while playing in the NFL. Even Pete Rose, who was accused of betting on baseball games was only convict
